ELENA'S GUESTHOUSE

Every year we visit Meteora sometimes multiple times a year. We found a lovely B&B that we like because we usually go down in a large group and stay in the main house where we have access to the living area, kitchen and fireplace. We can play cards or games have cocktails till all hours of the night. The rooms are updated, large and nicely furnished. The down side is breakfast consist of cold cuts, breads and cheeses, and unfortunately there is no oven or we would have cooked our own. Elena did bring us a microwave from her kitchen and is very accomodating to our request. She speaks English carefully. The house is located in town at the base of the mountains with beautiful views and walking distance to restaurants. Skiathos - Hotel near the Bananas

August 2007 - Crappy hotel (80 EURO), crappy room, but interesting island.

KyungHee: Hotel was next to eee - mmm - world famous beach. Long word. If you walk 10 or 15 mins you reach Little Banana and big banana. This is a very interesting and nice beach.

Galit: Crap

Poros

Bill, Tammy, Marty and Galit spent a long weekend on Poros in July, 2007. We stayed at the Poros Image, a 4-star hotel. The restaurant and rooms were nice, but the beach is tiny and crowded with kids, not our favorite beach. Driving around the island it looks like there may be better beaches, but not a great island for sand.

Skiathos - Hotel Mira Mare

Bill and I stayed here for a few days in June of 2007. It is right on the beach (amazing sand beach) and we liked the room and the staff. They have free beach lounges for guests, but go out early and stake yours out with your towel to save a good one. The restaurant next door is really good, too. Mira Mare is next door to Anemoni Beach Hotel. We stayed at both, very comparable, but Mira Mare was a little cheaper and the beach lounges are free. Cost was about 65euros per night (I think).

Skiathos - Anemoni Beach Hotel

Bill and I stayed in this hotel for a few days in June, 2007. It is right on the beach and has a small restaurant/bar area. Beach lounges cost a few euros a day (and are free to guests at the Mira Mare next door). The hotel was clean, has AC and we liked the staff. About 70euros a night (I think).

Santorini

This is Ellie's sister's hotel (I can't remember the name). It was very clean, comfortable and has AC and a pool. It is a 5euro cab ride or a 10 minute walk into Fira. Our price was 48euros per night and includes breakfast, Ellie can call to make the reservations. At the desk Art called a boat charter for us and we had a great time.

Metsovo - Hotel Apollon

Four of us stayed in the Hotel Apollon in Metsovo after touring Meteora one day. The next day we drove on to Ioannina. The hotel was recommended by our waiter in a taverna in town. We liked the hotel, had adjoining rooms sharing a bathroom. 55 euro for 1 of the rooms per night.

Crete, Elounda - Corali Studios

Bill and I went to Crete with the Newcomers group and stayed in the Corali Studios in Elounda. The room was clean and adequate and there is a pool. The owner didn't like to turn on the hot water too early in the morning, which was an issue for some of the guests. We ate at a restaurant next door that was excellent. Price was 50euros per night, but this may have been discounted for the group.
